Dubai rewards planning more than almost anywhere, because nearly everything worth doing has a right time and a wrong time, and the wrong time means ninety minutes in a queue in forty-degree heat.
So this itinerary is built around timing. The Burj Khalifa at the last slot before sunset rather than at midday. Old Dubai in the morning while the creek is still working. The desert on the day with the best forecast, not the day it happens to fall on the schedule.
It also deliberately splits the city in two. Two nights downtown, near the fountain and the mall, which is where you want to be for the landmark half. Then two nights on the beach at Jumeirah, which is where you want to be once the landmark half is done and everyone is tired.
The desert night is a private camp rather than the standard shared operation with the buffet and the stage show. Fewer people, better food, and dunes you can actually hear.

Arrive downtown
Airport pickup and check in near the fountain. The evening is the fountain show and dinner nearby — a low-effort first night, deliberately.

Old Dubai, then high up
The creek in the morning: an abra crossing, the spice and gold souks while they are still trading rather than performing. The Burj Khalifa at the pre-booked sunset slot, which costs more and is worth it.

The desert
Afternoon pickup for a conservation-reserve drive, then a private camp for dinner under the sky. Back late, or stay over if you would rather — your specialist can price both.

Move to the beach
Transfer to Jumeirah in the morning. The afternoon is the beach and nothing else. Optional: the art warehouses at Alserkal Avenue, which is the part of the city that surprises people most.
